ZAKA Deploys Extensive Security and Logistics for Tens of Thousands at Rabbi Yitzchak Gabra Pilgrimage in Agur

Tens of thousands of worshippers from across Israel gathered at the holy site of Rabbi Yitzchak Gabra in the village of Agur near Beit Shemesh to mark his annual yahrzeit, a day known for miraculous salvations. The massive pilgrimage drew people from all sectors of the faithful Jewish community to pray and seek blessings.

To ensure the safety and well-being of the large crowds amid challenging terrain and intense heat, the ZAKA organization established a special command post on site. The operations and logistics divisions deployed dozens of volunteers, off-road vehicles, advanced lighting systems, and water distribution trailers to support the event throughout the day and night.

ZAKA CEO Rabbi Tzvi Chassid expressed pride in the professional preparation and emphasized the organization's commitment to enabling the public to pray respectfully and securely. He personally directed all departments to provide the full range of available equipment, including 4x4 vehicles capable of navigating difficult terrain, cold water tanks, and powerful lighting to facilitate safe movement after dark.

Shmuel Ra’ani from ZAKA’s operations division highlighted the close cooperation with police and rescue teams, noting that thousands benefited from the water supplies during the hot day and that the lighting helped prevent injuries on the mountainous access roads. Despite the heavy crowds, the event concluded without any unusual incidents, with participants returning home safely and expressing deep gratitude to ZAKA volunteers for their dedicated support throughout the pilgrimage.
