Organizers Announce Traffic Plans for Rabbi Yitzhak Gabra Pilgrimage in Agur
The annual pilgrimage (hilula) honoring Rabbi Yitzhak Gabra, a revered Hasidic figure, is scheduled for Monday, the 21st of Tammuz, in the moshav of Agur. Organizers have released special traffic arrangements to ensure safety and order during the event, which attracts thousands of worshippers to Rabbi Gabra's gravesite.
Starting Sunday, no private vehicles or pedestrians will be allowed to enter Agur directly. Visitors arriving via Highway 35 will be directed to a designated parking lot near the moshav, while access from Highway 38 toward Srigim will be completely closed. Shuttle buses will operate from these parking areas to the prayer site adjacent to the gravesite.
The organizers urge attendees to travel in groups using buses or vans, follow posted signage, and comply with marshals' instructions. These measures aim to facilitate a secure and organized pilgrimage experience.
This year's hilula is taking place after being canceled last year due to police restrictions. The previous cancellation followed the event organizer's inability to meet police conditions and opposition from the landowner of the burial site. Consequently, the police prohibited the event in 2023. The current arrangements reflect efforts to allow the pilgrimage to proceed safely and with official coordination.
