Lebanese President Joseph Aoun Refuses to Meet Netanyahu Over Southern Disputes
Lebanese President Joseph Aoun told the Lebanese newspaper An-Nahar that he refuses to compromise on southern Lebanon and will not meet with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu. The newspaper also reported that claims of a meeting between Aoun and Netanyahu are false, stating that if they were in the same room, Aoun would immediately leave. Furthermore, Aoun will not consider meeting Netanyahu as long as Israeli attacks against Lebanese civilians and violations of Lebanese territory continue. He acknowledged that the current agreement with Israel is not ideal but linked its acceptance to the realities on the ground.
