Lebanese President Affirms Commitment to Negotiations with Israel Despite Challenges

Lebanese President Joseph Aoun stated that Lebanon has engaged in direct negotiations with Israel multiple times since 1949. He emphasized his firm decision to continue pursuing talks, despite the difficult choice and complex circumstances involved. Aoun highlighted the challenges posed by the balance of power, Israeli calculations, the Iran-US situation, and other complexities. He asserted that this decision upholds Lebanon's sovereignty and its right to negotiate on its own behalf. According to Aoun, these negotiations are expected to help Lebanon overcome the impacts of the ongoing conflict imposed on the country.
