Over 70 Million Christians to Unite in Historic Prayer Event for Israel in Jerusalem
On October 4, more than 70 million Christians from 175 countries will join the 24th annual Day of Prayer for the Peace of Jerusalem (DPPJ), the largest prayer event in history supporting Israel. The event, led by the international Christian organization Eagles' Wings and its founder Bishop Robert Stearns, will be broadcast live from the Tower of David Museum in Jerusalem. It comes amid ongoing security threats to Israel and a global surge in antisemitism.
The gathering will include over 500 senior Christian leaders from 50 countries, representing churches and communities worldwide. Official delegations from Nigeria, Kenya, and Togo will participate, featuring top government officials, the first ladies of Nigeria and Kenya, and the king and queen of Togo, highlighting a growing international coalition backing Israel. Additionally, 175 Christian leaders from Latin America, led by Pastor José Wellington Costa Jr., who heads a movement of over 33 million believers, will take part. These Latin American delegations represent more than 51 million Christians across the continent.
Government representatives have been invited to address the international Christian audience to emphasize Israel's enduring strength and the strategic importance of the Jewish-Christian alliance. Bishop Robert Stearns described the event as "much more than a prayer meeting," calling it a global declaration that Israel is not alone. He stressed that amid unprecedented challenges facing the Jewish people, tens of millions of Christians publicly stand with Israel to pray for its peace and renew the inseparable bond between their peoples.
The Day of Prayer for the Peace of Jerusalem has been held annually for 24 years and has become the world's largest prayer initiative dedicated to Jerusalem. This year’s event is expected to mark a historic milestone by uniting millions of believers from diverse churches, Christian streams, and nations in a single global broadcast. Eagles' Wings, active for over three decades, works to build bridges between the Christian world, Israel, and the Jewish people through education, advocacy, and action, mobilizing millions to combat antisemitism and strengthen support for Israel.
