Suspected murder in northern Israel: Man in his 20s shot dead in Maghar
Suspected murder in the north: Farid Mazelbat, a man in his 20s, was shot dead today (Saturday) in the city of Maghar in the Lower Galilee. Magen David Adom teams that arrived at the scene performed resuscitation efforts, but were forced to pronounce him dead at the scene. Police opened an investigation, and the background is criminal.
Magen David Adom paramedics Eran Shua and Hani Barens said: "We saw the injured man unconscious, without a pulse and without breathing, with severe gunshot wounds to his body. We provided advanced medical treatment that included prolonged resuscitation efforts, but unfortunately we had no choice but to pronounce him dead."
The Abraham Initiatives organization said that 125 Arabs have lost their lives since the start of 2026 in circumstances related to crime and violence, including 11 women and girls, compared with 105 victims in the corresponding period last year, an increase of 19%.
On Thursday, three people were killed in two separate incidents within about an hour: in Yafa an-Nasera, police opened an investigation into suspected double murder after two brothers, about 25 years old, were shot dead in the village near Nazareth, and about an hour later Malek Marakhian, about 50, was shot dead in Tamra in the Lower Galilee.
