Radical Left Israeli Media Outlets Promote International Boycott and IDF Refusal with Foreign Funding
Two Israeli news websites, "Local Call" and "972+ Magazine," identified with the radical left, operate within Israel to promote international boycotts against the country and encourage refusal to serve in the Israel Defense Forces (IDF). These outlets are run by a joint nonprofit organization named "972 Two, Promoting Civic Journalism," which receives funding primarily from two German foundations, the Heinrich Böll Foundation and the Rosa Luxemburg Foundation, effectively using German taxpayers' money. Additional financial support comes from the Open Society Foundations of billionaire George Soros, the Rockefeller Brothers Fund, Just Vision, and private donors through the New Israel Fund.
Among the organization's board members is pro-Palestinian activist Yosef Munayer, who works with U.S.-based groups to advance an anti-Israel agenda among American policymakers. The ideological goals of these activists include promoting the right of return for Palestinian refugees and encouraging IDF refusal. The websites also target international audiences to increase pressure on Israel.
The activities of these anti-Israel groups are linked to the U.S. Democratic Party. Noam Sheizaf, a founding member and former board member of "972+," currently recruits radical left activists into the Democratic Party, having enlisted approximately 1,500 members so far. Another activist, Orly Noy, chair of B'Tselem's board, is running with the Balad party in Israel. Despite the English-language magazine's aim to create international pressure against Israel, "972+" also seeks influence within Israeli politics, backed by significant funding from entities with anti-Israel agendas.
Attempts to obtain a response from Hagai Matar, CEO of the nonprofit, were unsuccessful before publication.
