Israeli Activists Face Violent Crackdown While Establishing Outpost in Syrian Territory
Around 100 activists from the Israeli movement "Pioneers of Bashan" crossed into Syrian territory to establish a Jewish outpost in Bashan. They report that Syrian military and police forces have surrounded them. Despite the activists maintaining complete nonviolence, security forces were documented using harsh violence, including grabbing a teenager by the head, pulling him backward, and handcuffing youths aggressively. The activists remain committed to their nonviolent policy and continue to hold their position without retaliating against the soldiers. The movement has called on the Israel Defense Forces and Israeli police to stop opposing the activists and demanded that the right-wing government instruct security forces to allow the pioneers to settle in Bashan.
