Second Authority CEO Condemns Violence Against Journalists, Urges Police Action

Uri Sharaf, acting CEO of Israel's Second Authority for Television and Radio, condemned the recent attack on Channel 12 News offices in Tel Aviv, where the entrance door was smashed. In a letter addressed to Police Commissioner Danni Levi, Sharaf highlighted a growing wave of violence against media outlets and journalists. He emphasized that attacks on journalists and their freedom of operation constitute an assault on press freedom itself. Sharaf stressed that fearless, free journalism is a fundamental pillar of a democratic and free society. He called on the police to take immediate action against anyone threatening journalists until the phenomenon is eradicated.
