Analyst Predicts Gadi Eizenkot Will Dominate Center-Left; Yair Lapid to Withdraw from Politics
Attorney Guy Busi, a constitutional and administrative law expert, presented a political analysis on 103FM radio on Sunday, forecasting a bleak future for Yair Lapid and his party, Yesh Atid. Busi asserted that Gadi Eizenkot will consolidate all the center-left mandates, effectively leading the bloc exclusively. He predicted that former Prime Minister Naftali Bennett would seek a lower-ranking position, possibly third or fourth, under Eizenkot's leadership.
Busi was particularly critical of Lapid, expressing doubt that he will run in the next election. He explained that Lapid would likely refuse to participate if he cannot secure a leading position. Furthermore, Busi warned that the current 20 Knesset members from Yesh Atid face a political dead end, with no prospects of returning to the Knesset and even losing their political influence entirely.
This analysis highlights a potential realignment within the Israeli center-left political landscape, with Eizenkot emerging as the dominant figure and Lapid's political career possibly ending. Bennett's role is expected to diminish significantly under this scenario.
