Israeli ZAKA Team Assists Venezuelan Earthquake Rescue Amid Nearly 3,000 Deaths

The death toll from two devastating earthquakes in Venezuela has risen to 2,954, with 16,592 injured and 16,309 displaced, according to the local Ministry of Information reported to Reuters on Saturday. The earthquakes caused widespread destruction in the San Bernardino area and other regions.

In response, an international delegation from the Israeli emergency response organization ZAKA is actively assisting local rescue efforts. The team, composed of engineers, doctors, and experienced volunteers, is engaged in locating and extracting trapped victims, providing medical care, and evacuating the deceased. Their operations are coordinated under the leadership of Yosef Garmon, commander of ZAKA South America.

Venezuelan Vice President Delcy Rodriguez expressed gratitude for the Israeli team's swift arrival and professionalism, highlighting their significant contribution to life-saving efforts. Baruch Nidam, director of ZAKA's international division, confirmed the team's rapid deployment and close cooperation with local emergency services, thanking Rodriguez for her commendation.

The ZAKA mission exemplifies international cooperation in disaster response, providing critical support amid one of Venezuela's deadliest natural disasters in recent history.
