Maccabi Haifa Opens 2026/27 Preseason with 2-1 Win Over Dundee United

Maccabi Haifa began their preparations for the 2026/2027 season with a 2-1 victory against Dundee United in their first preseason camp match on Saturday. The game started strongly for Haifa, who took the lead in the 6th minute when Iyad Khalili advanced quickly on a counterattack, his shot deflected by the defense to Yair Mordechai, who scored with a first-touch finish.

Dundee United controlled possession afterward and sought an equalizer, but Haifa doubled their lead in the 17th minute. Eitan Azulai capitalized on a Scottish turnover, unleashing a powerful shot from the edge of the box that found the net. Dundee United managed to reduce the deficit in the 59th minute when Joe Baban scored with a relatively weak shot that goalkeeper Sharif Kiyouf failed to handle.

Despite the late goal, Haifa's coach Barak Bachar and his squad successfully passed their first test of the preseason. The team will continue their training camp and is scheduled to play another friendly match against Hungarian side Paksi on Wednesday.
