Maccabi Haifa Opens 2026/27 Preseason with 2-1 Win Over Dundee United

Maccabi Haifa began their preparations for the 2026/2027 season with a 2-1 victory against Dundee United in their first preseason match on Saturday. The game took place during their training camp, with Haifa taking an early lead in the sixth minute. Iyad Khalili launched a quick counterattack, and after his shot was deflected by the defense, Yair Mordechai scored with a precise finish.

Dundee United controlled possession and sought an equalizer, but Haifa doubled their advantage in the 17th minute. Eitan Azulai capitalized on a Scottish turnover, firing a powerful shot from the edge of the box into the net. Dundee United managed to reduce the deficit in the 59th minute when Joe Baban scored with a relatively weak shot that goalkeeper Sharif Kiyouf failed to handle.

Despite the late goal, Maccabi Haifa, coached by Barak Bachar, successfully passed their first test of the preseason. The team will continue their training camp and is scheduled to play another friendly match against Hungarian side Paksi on Wednesday. This match serves as an important step in their buildup to the upcoming Israeli Premier League season.
