Israeli Basketball Guard Noam Yaakov Faces Insurance Hurdle Before National Team Match

Just an hour before Friday's game, the Israeli Basketball Association received a last-minute notification from FIBA that Noam Yaakov's insurance coverage did not include temporary disability, unlike other players covered under FIBA and NBA policies. Extending the insurance to cover this would cost 35,000 euros. The association had previously submitted comprehensive insurance documents covering permanent disability, accidental death, and temporary disability for all team members as required. The timing of FIBA's response regarding Yaakov was unexpected and problematic.

Yaakov expressed his disappointment in an interview with Channel Sport, saying he was surprised by the situation and saddened because he had prepared extensively and was eager to represent Israel. Despite the setback, he stated he would remain with the team as long as there was any chance to play. The Israeli team is actively working to resolve the insurance issue to allow Yaakov to participate.
