Maccabi Tel Aviv Negotiates New Contract with Guard Shai'fa Lundberg

Shai'fa Lundberg, the 31-year-old Polish guard who significantly impacted Maccabi Tel Aviv's recent season, is in advanced contract renewal talks with the club. Lundberg, who played a key role in the team’s double championship win last season, initially demanded $10 million for three years, a figure the club found too high. After resuming negotiations, Lundberg has lowered his asking price to approximately $2 million per season, a more feasible amount for Maccabi Tel Aviv. The club highly values Lundberg and hopes to retain him for the upcoming season under coach Oded Katash.

During the last season, Lundberg averaged 11.0 points and 3.6 assists in the EuroLeague, and in the Israeli Basketball Premier League, he posted 10.5 points and 3.8 assists in the regular season. His performance elevated during the playoffs, where he averaged 14.1 points, 5.1 assists, and 3.3 rebounds, leading the team to the championship. The positive direction of the talks suggests Lundberg’s stay in Tel Aviv is becoming more realistic.
