Jerusalem Police Approve Major Safety-Compliant Pilgrimage in Ajjur

The Jerusalem District Police commander, Chief Superintendent Avshalom Peled, has lifted the ban on the annual pilgrimage (hilula) of Rabbi Yitzhak Gabra in the moshav of Ajjur after organizers met all safety requirements. The initial prohibition was issued due to serious safety concerns that endangered tens of thousands of attendees. Over recent days, the organizers worked closely with Israeli police and professional safety consultants to address these issues.

On Friday, a comprehensive on-site inspection took place involving senior police officials including Eli Levi, Operations Officer of the Jerusalem District, and Reuven Naoi, Commander of the Mateh Yehuda Station, alongside Border Police commanders, event organizers, safety and traffic advisors, medical emergency representatives, and the "Yedidim" rescue organization. The group reviewed the safety improvements, including enhanced fencing, lighting, traffic management, and medical provisions for people with disabilities.

Following confirmation that all safety deficiencies were corrected and full compliance with police directives was achieved, the district commander officially revoked the ban. The pilgrimage is scheduled to proceed as planned on Sunday and Monday. Security forces from the Jerusalem District and Border Police will maintain public order, secure the event, and manage traffic throughout the pilgrimage.

The public is urged to cooperate with police and event staff to ensure smooth access and safety. Rabbi Yishai Yiftah, the event spokesperson, expressed gratitude to the police for their approval and thanked key contributors including attorney Rabbi Roni Paluch for fundraising efforts and producer Rabbi Yechiel Ludmir for his dedicated work in organizing the event.
