Legal Talks Progress in Controversial Israel State Cup Final Disciplinary Case

The legal department of the Israel Football Association is awaiting a decision by Sunday on the possibility of a plea bargain regarding disciplinary actions following the State Cup final between Hapoel Be'er Sheva and Maccabi Tel Aviv. Gilad Bergman, the association's prosecutor, has softened his stance after reviewing video footage, agreeing to a conditional suspension for Hapoel Be'er Sheva midfielder Hamudi Kna'an instead of a full ban. Bergman is also willing to negotiate with Maccabi Tel Aviv's Jabon East on his punishment. However, he remains firm on imposing strict penalties on Hapoel Be'er Sheva players Mohammed Abu Romi, Zahi Ahmad, and Samir Farhoud.

Maccabi Tel Aviv continues negotiations with the prosecutor, aware that if no plea deal is reached, the disciplinary tribunal led by chief judge Noam Liubin may impose harsher sanctions. In recent discussions, Bergman agreed to reduce the suspension length for Maccabi's Tyrese Asante but insists on lengthy bans for Christian Blitz and Yoav Ziv. The developments indicate potential easing of some punishments while others remain contested as the association seeks resolution in this high-profile case.
