Families of Israeli Hostages Demand Access to Captivity Footage as IDF Closes Cases
The Israel Defense Forces have begun closing files related to hostages held during recent conflicts. As part of this process, survivors and families of the hostages are being invited to the Prisoners and Missing Persons Directorate for summary discussions. According to a report by Channel 13 News, this procedure has sparked anger and criticism among some families. They claim the IDF possesses footage of their loved ones during captivity but refuses to share it with them.
One released hostage stated that he was informed such footage exists but has not received any information beyond what intelligence services deemed necessary to extract from him. Meanwhile, families of hostages who were killed express concern that without a formal investigative committee, crucial information may be suppressed or lost.
The IDF responded by asserting that throughout the war and continuing now, it has shared all available intelligence materials with the families that can be legally and operationally disclosed.
