Hapoel Jerusalem Prepares for Sixth Consecutive Premier League Season with New Young Talents

Hapoel Jerusalem began training on July 1, 2026, ahead of their sixth consecutive season in the Israeli Premier League, marking the first time since the late 1970s that the club has maintained such a streak. The previous longest run ended with their relegation in the 1978/79 season. So far in the transfer window, the club has signed Lee-On Mizrahi, Hilai Melman, Vitali Demshkan, and Idan Cohen, and recently added 19-year-old goalkeeper Guy Bar as the third-choice keeper. Bar developed in Hapoel Tel Aviv's youth system and last season played for Ra'anana's youth team, making one senior appearance.

Additionally, two trialists are training with the team: 19-year-old defensive midfielder Dan Galmor from Ra'anana and 20-year-old attacking midfielder Ben Zayed from Hapoel Tel Aviv. Both aim to impress head coach Lior Zada and secure a spot on the squad. Notably absent from the first training session was Matan Hozez, whose contract ended and is unlikely to continue with the club.

Einav Pereda returned to training after a long injury layoff and will join the team for their training camp in Poland starting July 14. Before the camp, Hapoel Jerusalem will play two friendly matches: an away game against Bnei Yehuda and a home game against Jaffa.

Meanwhile, preparations continue for the club's centennial celebration on July 12 at the Armon Hanatziv promenade. The event will be attended by the mayor, current and former players, and will feature various activities for fans and youth.
