Actor Yadin Gilman Raises Son Without Screens or Processed Sugar, Defends Parenting Choices
Israeli actor Yadin Gilman, known for his public discussions about parenting, recently reiterated his strict approach to raising his son, Yonatan. Speaking at the launch of a capsule collection by fashion brand Renoir, Gilman emphasized that his two-year-old son is not exposed to any screens at home and consumes no processed sugar or processed foods. Gilman described the criticism he receives about his parenting as "the most absurd conversation" he has ever heard, asserting that he is confident in his choices and backed by scientific research.
Gilman explained that while many parents accept feeding children unhealthy processed foods, he refuses to do so, comparing processed sugar's harmful effects to smoking near children. He revealed that all screens in the home are turned off when his son is present, and the child does not watch television or use phones. Gilman said he supports his son watching animated films only when he can understand the story, citing recent family viewings of movies like "Finding Nemo" and "The Incredibles."
The actor also touched on his upcoming wedding to news presenter Edva Dadon, noting that both are currently focused on their careers and have not yet fully embraced the excitement of their impending marriage. Dadon is currently covering the 1,000 days since the October 7th terror attack at Kikar HaHetzvaot. Gilman expressed happiness about their life stage, despite not having anticipated marrying with a child already.
Gilman’s firm stance on parenting reflects a broader concern about children’s health and media consumption, advocating for mindful exposure and nutrition. He remains unapologetic about his approach, emphasizing the importance of protecting his son’s future health and well-being.
