Father of Hamas Hostage Killed in Captivity Reveals Negotiation Details with Turkey
Elhanan Danino, father of Uri Danino who was killed while held hostage by Hamas, spoke to 103FM about the difficult situation surrounding the hostages and negotiations for their release. He revealed that during the time his son was held captive in Gaza, he received extensive information from both the security cabinet and other sources. Danino disclosed knowing a parent who was involved in negotiations with Turkey for their child's release but was warned by Mossad to stop after three days.
Danino also addressed comments made by retired General Nitzan Alon, accusing ministers Itamar Ben-Gvir and Bezalel Smotrich of obstructing hostage release efforts. He claimed Smotrich repeatedly threatened to dismantle the government if any prisoner exchange deal was made, even for a single captive. Danino recounted a personal confrontation with Smotrich, criticizing his social media posts that he said caused ongoing pain to the families of the hostages.
Regarding the ongoing revelations about the events of October 7 and the need for a state investigative committee, Danino expressed hope that a new government would establish a thorough inquiry. He lamented the lack of investigation so far and the continuous emergence of new information. Danino also commented on the "Bild affair," which surfaced after his son's death, emphasizing the tragic loss after nearly a year of hope and noting that six hostages were reportedly ready for release three times, as seen in tunnel footage.
He concluded by reflecting on the enduring grief and the struggle to live with loss while hoping for a better future for his surviving children.
