National Security Minister Itamar Ben-Gvir Reflects Emotionally on Late Mother’s Influence
During a podcast interview on Channel 7, National Security Minister Itamar Ben-Gvir shared emotional memories of his late mother. He spoke tearfully about her strong belief in people and the close bond they shared. Ben-Gvir revealed that his mother struggled to accept his exemption from military service and actively sought to change it, even writing a letter to former IDF Chief of Staff Ehud Barak questioning why her son was not drafted.
Ben-Gvir described his mother as a kind woman who believed in people and taught him to love and trust others. He recalled their home as a place filled with affection and said he strives to continue her legacy. When asked if she would have been proud of him, he affirmed that she would be very proud. He also expressed sadness that she did not live to see him become a minister, though she did witness his career as a lawyer, which he said also involved some painful moments.
The interview ended with Ben-Gvir visibly moved, acknowledging his emotional state when prompted by the host, Hadar Miller.
