Israel Marks 1,000 Days Since Iron Swords War with Nationwide Memorials and Protests
On the 1,000th day since the outbreak of the Iron Swords War, commemorative and protest events began across Israel on Thursday morning. Initiated by the October Council, these activities are taking place at over 70 locations from the north to the south of the country. The events started at 6:29 a.m., the exact time the terror attack began on October 7, with the opening of numerous memorial sites nationwide.
At 10:00 a.m., the October Council called on all Israeli citizens to observe a minute of silence in memory of the victims of October 7, fallen soldiers, hostages, and all those whose lives have been affected by the ongoing conflict. Participants include bereaved families, families of hostages, survivors of massacres and captivity, reservists, and many civilians.
Throughout the day, additional events are scheduled, including the opening of the "1,000 Memories" exhibition at Beit Ariela, which displays personal items of the victims, fallen soldiers, and hostages. The Hostages Square will be reopened and renamed "Memorial Square," featuring installations, testimonies from families and survivors, and various public events nationwide. The day will conclude with a central rally in the evening.
Separately, residents of Gaza Street protested at the Knesset, expressing that their lives are unbearable under siege conditions.
