Haredi National Service Sees Sharp Rise in Security Roles, Reaching 70% Participation

At a recent event honoring Haredi participants in national service, Reuven Pinsky, CEO of the National-Civil Service Authority, revealed a significant increase in the number of Haredi individuals choosing security-related service tracks. Over the past few years, the proportion of Haredim serving in these roles has surged from just 10% to approximately 70% of all Haredi national service participants.

Pinsky highlighted that the majority of these individuals are now integrated into key security frameworks such as the police, fire services, and the Israel Prison Service. He emphasized the moral and communal significance of this choice, stating, "You have chosen to be at the forefront," and described their service as embodying values of responsibility, mission, and "sanctifying God's name."

This data marks a notable shift within the Haredi community regarding participation in national service, especially in roles with a security dimension. The trend reflects growing engagement of Haredi youth in sectors traditionally less common for their demographic, signaling evolving social dynamics and contributions to national security.
