Ramat Gan Cafe Targeted in Third Arson Attack Within Two Months
The "Benedicta" cafe on Uziel Street in Ramat Gan has suffered three arson attacks in just two months, with no arrests made so far. The latest incident occurred early Wednesday morning when the cafe's front was set on fire, causing significant damage to the windows and building. Last week, an attempted arson damaged one side of the cafe, while the initial attack two months ago also targeted the venue.
The cafe owners, Shachaf and her husband Adi, believe the attacks are linked to their decision to remain open on Saturdays, a practice that has drawn hostility. Despite the repeated incidents, the police investigation has yet to yield any breakthroughs. Adi described the emotional toll, saying, "I am mainly tired. We hoped to sleep well after a busy day, but at three in the morning we are woken up by this."
Despite the challenges, the couple refuses to close the business, stating, "What else can we do? Close? The cafe is open and we continue." They report strong community support, with many local residents continuing to visit the cafe. The mayor of Ramat Gan also visited the site after the latest attack to show solidarity. The owners sent a clear message to the perpetrators: "We will not give in. No one will scare us."
