Florida Woman Killed by Alligator During River Swim on Couple’s Trip
Brittany Clark, 31, tragically died after being attacked by an alligator while swimming in a river during a weekend trip in Florida. The incident occurred at the Aconalocachi River within the Little Big Econ Preserve, where Clark and her boyfriend, Chance Allison, had stopped to swim. Clark was in shallow water about 90 centimeters deep when a 3.7-meter alligator suddenly attacked her, biting and severely injuring both of her arms.
Allison fought the alligator in an attempt to save Clark, managing to free one of her arms before the alligator grabbed the other. Emergency responders received a distress call from Allison, who was heard trying to stop the heavy bleeding as they waited for help. Despite being rushed to the hospital, Clark succumbed to her injuries en route.
Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission spokesman Chad Weber confirmed the couple had paused their hike to swim when the attack happened. Wildlife officers later located and euthanized the alligator, preserving its head as evidence for the ongoing investigation.
Clark was known for her love of nature and adventure, frequently sharing photos of her outdoor activities on social media. She worked as a bulldozer operator and enjoyed attending rave parties. She also had a strong interest in firearms and pets, often posting images of guns and motorcycles online.
This fatal attack highlights the dangers of wildlife encounters in Florida’s natural preserves and the risks involved even in seemingly safe, shallow waters.
