Microsoft Israel Executive Predicts AI Will Enhance, Not Replace, Enterprise Software
Dr. Ben Haklai, Vice President of National Technologies at Microsoft Israel, addressed concerns about AI's impact on enterprise software during the Microsoft AI Tour Tel Aviv 2026 conference held on Tuesday. Despite recent market turmoil and declining SaaS company stocks amid AI hype, Haklai asserted that enterprise software will not disappear. He explained that organizations have historically purchased managed, compliant software tailored to specific needs rather than just code, and he sees no reason for this to change with AI's rise.
Haklai emphasized that Microsoft’s perspective is based on deep market understanding rather than corporate bias. He noted that open-source software has existed for decades without significantly disrupting enterprise software adoption, which continues to grow robustly. He expects the same trend to hold true in the AI era.
Regarding the evolution from chatbot interfaces to agentic AI, Haklai described a shift where humans will manage groups of AI agents within work environments, reshaping workflows but not eliminating human roles. He expressed optimism about AI’s impact on workers, drawing parallels to past technological revolutions that initially caused disruption but ultimately empowered people with more powerful tools.
Haklai highlighted that AI will serve as an augmentation tool, increasing individual productivity and enabling higher levels of abstraction in work processes. He rejected fears that AI will replace employees, instead forecasting a future where workers leverage AI agents to achieve significantly more than today.
