Maccabi Tel Aviv Wins 1-0 Over Alashkert in First Preseason Friendly
Maccabi Tel Aviv secured a 1-0 victory against Armenian club Alashkert in their first preseason friendly match on June 30, 2026. The winning goal was scored by captain Dor Peretz in the 71st minute, assisted by Shahar Rozen. This match marked the beginning of Maccabi's preparations for the 2026/27 season under coach Kenny Miller.
Maccabi dominated the game from start to finish, creating multiple scoring chances while limiting Alashkert's threats, who only managed a notable attempt in the 42nd minute. In the first half, Saeid Abu Farhi missed several opportunities, and Christian Blitz came close with a shot just over the crossbar. After halftime, Miller made nine substitutions, which eventually led to Peretz's goal. His header in the 62nd minute hit the crossbar, but he found the net nine minutes later following a cross from Orel Bayeh and a pass from Ilai Ben Simon.
Peretz, who finished last season as the Israeli Premier League's top scorer, recently signed a new contract with Maccabi after a prolonged negotiation. The team will continue their training camp in Serbia until July 7, playing additional friendlies before returning to Israel to prepare for their official season opener against reigning champions Hapoel Be'er Sheva in the Super Cup on July 16.
Following that, Maccabi will enter the UEFA Europa League qualifiers, starting the second round on July 23 against the winner of the tie between Sheriff Tiraspol from Moldova and Aluminij from Slovenia.
