MK Tali Gottlieb Accuses Shin Bet Leadership of Mutiny, Calls for Rebuilding Agency
MK Tali Gottlieb sharply criticized the Shin Bet's (Israel Security Agency) leadership on Monday evening, accusing senior officials of rebellion against the agency's head, Major General David Zini. Gottlieb claimed there is a mutiny within the Shin Bet's top ranks against Zini, which she said contributed to the failures leading to the October conflict. She urged Zini to take immediate action against those who allegedly disobeyed his orders, specifically condemning leaks of conversations between Zini and Shin Bet investigators regarding an attack in Iran that were reported by Channel 12. Gottlieb demanded that anyone involved in undermining Zini's directive to investigate the source of the leak be dismissed at once. She concluded by calling for a profound overhaul of the Shin Bet, suggesting that it would be better to rebuild the agency entirely rather than continue relying on what she described as disloyal elements within its ranks.
