Los Angeles Rabbi Found Injured After Getting Lost Hiking Near Malibu

A rabbi leading a class hike was dramatically rescued on Monday after getting lost and injured in the Santa Monica Mountains near Malibu, Los Angeles. The group had set out together, but the rabbi began feeling unwell and told his students he would stay at the trailhead while they continued. When the students returned, he was missing. Without cell reception in the remote area, they could not contact him or call for help immediately.

After authorities were notified, the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department launched an extensive search involving ground rescue teams and aerial units. Following more than four hours of searching and just before sunset, a ground rescue team located the missing rabbi. Officials reported he had fallen and sustained only minor scratches and injuries. Due to the difficult terrain, the sheriff's office evacuated him by helicopter to ensure his safety.
