Israeli Health Ministry Assigns 442 Medical Interns, Prioritizing Recognized Foreign Graduates

The Israeli Ministry of Health conducted its medical internship lottery today, assigning 442 interns who graduated from foreign medical schools. Among these, 278 graduates were from recognized institutions, while 144 were from unrecognized ones, marking a reversal from previous years where unrecognized graduates dominated placements. The ministry reported that 73% of recognized institution graduates received their first-choice internship placement, and 97% secured one of their top five preferences. This shift reflects the impact of recent reforms aimed at ensuring medical training meets high standards in Israel.
