Apple Prepares to Launch First Foldable iPhone at September Event

The company plans to unveil the iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone 18 Pro Max models, alongside a new model called the iPhone Ultra, which is anticipated to be Apple's first foldable iPhone. This launch aligns with previous reports that Apple intends to split the iPhone 18 series release into two separate events. The base models, iPhone 18 and the second-generation iPhone Air, are expected to debut only in spring 2027. This staggered release strategy aims to spread Apple's hardware launches throughout the year rather than concentrating all new iPhone models in a single event.

A key market concern is pricing, with estimates suggesting the iPhone 18 Pro models could be about $200 more expensive than the current generation, driven by rising costs of memory chips and storage components. The iPhone 18 Pro is expected to feature a new 2-nanometer chip, a smaller Dynamic Island, a camera with a variable aperture, and improved battery life. The price of the foldable iPhone Ultra remains uncertain but is predicted to be significantly higher than the Pro models due to higher production costs, including the foldable display and global memory component shortages.
