Senior Israeli Officer Blocked from IDF Promotion After October 7th Assigned to Shin Bet Role
A senior Israeli Defense Forces (IDF) officer who played a significant role during the events of October 7 has been promoted and seconded from the IDF to the Shin Bet (Israel Security Agency). Despite recommendations from former Chief of Staff Herzi Halevi and current Chief of Staff Eyal Zamir supporting his promotion, Defense Minister Israel Katz blocked the officer's advancement within the IDF. The appointment sparked strong opposition from bereaved families and families of hostages, who demanded that the officer's promotion be prevented. Senior IDF officers claim that Shin Bet chief David Zini facilitated the officer's placement within the agency to enable a future return to the IDF. The IDF spokesperson declined to comment on the report.
