Israeli Businessman Facilitates Behind-the-Scenes Deal Between Barcelona and Saudi Investors

The Saudi Public Investment Fund (PIF), led by Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman, is currently engaged in negotiations with FC Barcelona. As Saudi Arabia prepares to host the 2034 World Cup, the PIF is investing heavily in football, including potentially sponsoring Barcelona and investing in their renowned youth academy, La Masia. Part of the collaboration aims to establish football academies in Saudi Arabia under Barcelona's brand to develop a generation of professional players ahead of the tournament.

An Israeli-British businessman, Said Sarsour, residing in London, is managing these talks. His advisor, Ihab Adna Sarsour, explained that Saudi Arabia seeks to be a global leader in sports, especially football, which serves as a universal language and bridge between nations. They provide consultancy to Saudi Arabia and other leading clubs in England, Spain, and Italy, though confidentiality agreements prevent further disclosure.

This involvement highlights a unique Israeli connection in the growing sports and business cooperation between Saudi Arabia and European football clubs, reflecting broader regional engagement through sports diplomacy and investment.
