Right-Wing Leaders Reject Broad Unity Government That Overrides Voter Mandate

Avi Maoz, leader of the Yisrael Beiteinu party, emphasized that while national unity is essential, it must not come at the expense of disregarding the democratic choice of the electorate. He argued that the right-wing bloc, repeatedly chosen by Israeli voters, seeks genuine change and implementation of its policies rather than compromise governments that dilute their agenda.

Maoz warned that broad consensus governments often exclude critical issues such as judicial reform and strengthening the Jewish identity of the state. He cited former IDF Chief of Staff Gadi Eizenkot and Avigdor Lieberman as examples of figures who might block or soften these priorities, undermining the will of the national majority. Maoz stressed that unity should not be a euphemism for nullifying the voters' decision.

He further stated that the right-wing cannot win elections only to abandon the principles that secured their victory. Healing national divisions requires addressing the root causes, including restoring balance among government branches, empowering the Knesset, and rebuilding public trust in the system. The right-wing camp's mission is to strengthen itself internally, expand its influence without compromising core values, and ensure the majority's will is not sidelined again.

Maoz concluded that democracy is not only about election day but about respecting the electorate's mandate, pledging to fortify the right-wing bloc and uphold its principles and values.
