Russian Man Arrested in Yaroslavl for Plotting to Burn Synagogue on Orders from Syria
A Russian citizen was arrested in Yaroslavl on suspicion of planning to set fire to a local synagogue. According to the Russian Federal Security Service (FSB), the suspect received instructions from a contact in Syria and procured materials to make Molotov cocktails. During the search, authorities found several Molotov cocktails in his possession. When questioned, the suspect admitted his intent was to ignite the synagogue, citing the Israel-Palestine conflict as his motivation. The FSB further reported that after carrying out the arson, the suspect planned to travel to Syria to join an international terrorist organization. The Yaroslavl regional FSB investigative department has opened a criminal case against him under Russian law.
