Former Southern Command Chief Dan Harel Ordered to Pay MK Tzvi Sukkot for Defamation
Dan Harel, former head of Israel's Southern Command, has been ordered to pay 35,000 shekels to Member of Knesset Tzvi Sukkot for defamation. The ruling followed Harel's claim in an interview that "one and a half battalions were diverted to guard Sukkot's sukkah in Hawara" on the eve of the October 7 massacre. The court, presided over by Judge Mizrahi, rejected Harel's countersuit against Sukkot and Yossi Dagan. In response to the verdict, Sukkot stated, "Those who slander will pay, and pay dearly." Dagan added, "The blood of Samaria's residents will not be forsaken, we will never remain silent in the face of slander and lies."
