Big Brother Winner Gal Rubin Revamps Family Home in Five Days on Budget
Gal Rubin, winner of the reality show Big Brother, recently upgraded her five-room apartment in Rishon LeZion, where she has lived for three years with her six children. After moving from Jerusalem to be closer to the center of Israel for work and family reasons, Rubin enlisted interior designer Roni Fleisher to transform the space within just five days and on a tight budget of 20,000 shekels. The challenge was to furnish and decorate a functional home for a single mother with six kids, using mostly existing stock from suppliers due to the limited timeframe.
The apartment’s design was inspired by the existing light blue country-style kitchen and its proximity to the sea, aiming to create a warm, relaxed atmosphere with natural elements like plants and soft textiles. The living room features a large, deep gray sofa and a dining table that extends from 1.4 to 3.4 meters to accommodate up to 18 people. Fleisher focused on making the central living areas inviting while keeping the children’s rooms practical and budget-friendly.
Rubin’s bedroom was designed as a peaceful retreat, contrasting with the colorful and lively public spaces. It features soft, light tones and a large macramé piece, reflecting Rubin’s love of the desert and desire for calm. Fleisher described Rubin as warm, articulate, and devoted, emphasizing their personal connection beyond Rubin’s public persona. The project was completed swiftly and affordably, with Fleisher hopeful Rubin will use her prize money to secure a new home for her family in the future.
