Education Minister Yoav Kish Does Not Rule Out Government Coalition With Former IDF Chief Gadi Eisenkot

Education Minister and Likud member Yoav Kish stated in a radio interview on Monday that he does not categorically dismiss the possibility of forming a broad government coalition alongside Gadi Eisenkot, former IDF Chief of Staff and leader of the Yesh party. Kish emphasized that his party's primary goal remains to form the next government with Benjamin Netanyahu as Prime Minister. However, he outlined a complex political scenario in which Likud might legitimize cooperation with Eisenkot to prevent a government reliant on non-Zionist parties, particularly those supported by Arab votes.

Kish explained that if Eisenkot were to present Netanyahu with an ultimatum to join him or face a coalition dependent on Arab parties, such a move would be considered legitimate. Despite this opening, Kish quickly tempered expectations, noting that this remains a theoretical scenario given public statements from opposition leaders denying such cooperation. He stressed that Eisenkot's camp consistently rejects the idea of joining forces with Netanyahu under these conditions.
