Real Madrid Considers Replacing Coach Sergio Scariolo with Dimitris Itoudis

Real Madrid is reportedly contemplating a major coaching change after a disappointing basketball season that ended without trophies, including a loss in the EuroLeague final. Despite Sergio Scariolo's seemingly secure position following the return of Juan Carlos Sánchez to lead the basketball department, recent discussions with players and dissatisfaction with the past season have led Sánchez to consider a shake-up on the sidelines. Scariolo, who still has two years left on his contract, would require a significant payout if dismissed.

The leading candidate to replace the Italian coach is Paco Redondo, a respected figure who served as an assistant to Pablo Laso and Chus Mateo for a decade. However, Catalan outlet Mundo Deportivo reports that Real Madrid's preferred choice is Dimitris Itoudis, the current coach of Hapoel Tel Aviv. The club has already made initial contact with the Greek coach, who recently lost 3-1 to Maccabi Tel Aviv in the Israeli league playoff finals.

In parallel with the coaching considerations, Real Madrid is also focusing on strengthening its roster. According to Marca, the club is targeting French forward Timothé Luwawu-Cabarrot, who played last season with Baskonia, and American-Slovak point guard David DeJulius, who had a successful season with Murcia.
