Israeli Judicial Committee Approves 53 New Judges Across Courts Nationwide
The Judicial Selection Committee convened on Sunday at the Justice Minister's office in Jerusalem to approve a broad slate of judicial appointments across Israel. The meeting was chaired by Justice Minister Yariv Levin and attended by Supreme Court President Isaac Amit. In total, 53 candidates were appointed as judges in various courts, alongside 15 registrars and acting judges in district courts in Beersheba, Haifa, Jerusalem, and Nof HaGalil-Nazareth.
Among the district court appointments were Judges Efrat Or-Elias, Shelly Eisenberg, Amit Yariv, Menachem Mizrahi, Nir Mishori Lev-Tov, and Michal Kaplan-Rokman. The committee also promoted five former magistrate court presidents to district court judgeships: Mishori Lev-Tov, Eisenberg, Mizrahi, Or-Elias, and Yariv. Notably, Jerusalem Magistrate Court President and acting president of community courts, Judge Shmuel Harbist, requested to be excluded from the list at this time.
Appointments to magistrate courts included lawyers and registrars across multiple districts: in the Northern District, Ortal Bala, Said Galia, Anan Ghanem, Rimona Sheleg, and others; in Haifa, Yaniv Avitan, Ola Bashara Gandor, Asaf Gershgorn, and more; in the Central District, Aviaad Igra and Liel Golani Barnes; in Tel Aviv-Jaffa, Orit Dror Harel and senior registrar Shay Tzarfati; in Jerusalem, Ingrid Har-Even; and in the Southern District, Renana Gan-Goldenberg, Lital Emily Yakubovich Draai, and senior registrar Meital Perry.
Family court appointments in Haifa included lawyers Mirit Chabia, Dagan, Sharon Hakim, and senior registrars Michal Farber and Esti Shachal. Juvenile court appointments featured lawyers Orit Bar Levi, Jumana Damoni Khoury, Mirit Danieli, Rinat Betty Hanokh, Renana Levi, and lawyer Yosef Raz. Traffic court appointments spanned multiple districts with lawyers including Oded Yoram Arara, Shirley Batsiks Kisus, Islam Saruji, Almog Azulai, and others.
Additionally, military judge Zvi Heilbron was appointed to the Central District, Victoria Ben Meir to Tel Aviv-Jaffa, and Hofit Edri to the Southern District. The committee also approved registrars and acting judges for district courts: in Beersheba, Yaniv Boker, Dov Gottlieb, Mira Dahan, and others; in Haifa, Michal Berliner Levi, Ramzi Hadid, Tami Levi, and more; in Jerusalem, Orit Ben-Dor; and in Nof HaGalil-Nazareth, Tal Weisman Ben Shahar.
This extensive round of appointments aims to strengthen the judiciary across Israel’s courts, reflecting a significant reshuffle and reinforcement of judicial capacities nationwide.
