Iran Launches Legal Campaign Against Israel and US at The Hague

Iran has initiated a new legal offensive against Israel and the United States, accusing both countries of war crimes and other offenses. This development comes amid ongoing negotiations but signals Tehran's shift from military confrontation to a judicial battle. Iranian leader Mojtaba Khamenei, who has remained out of public view since the start of the recent unrest and the death of his father Ali Khamenei, called for legal action against the two nations during Iran's Judiciary Week. He accused Israel and the US of crimes including violations of Iranian national rights, targeted killings, attacks on medical facilities, and the murder of infants, urging local and international courts to prosecute these acts.

Khamenei's message emphasized the need to hold perpetrators accountable, citing admissions and brazen pride by some American and Israeli leaders as evidence that could facilitate legal proceedings. This move follows reports of a brutal crackdown by the Iranian regime on protesters during the months preceding the "Roaring Lion" operation, with human rights organizations estimating around 42,000 demonstrators killed. Despite the scale of the massacre, no international body has intervened to halt the violence against women, children, and young men fighting for freedom.

A recent investigation by Iran International revealed that the Ghrazi Hospital in Isfahan was used by security forces as a trap during the suppression of protests from January 8 to 10. Security personnel tightly controlled the medical facility, obstructing treatment, hiding bodies, and erasing official patient records to conceal the extent of the killings. This legal campaign marks a significant escalation in Iran's efforts to challenge Israel and the US on the international stage amid ongoing internal repression.
