IDF Soldier Suspended After Israeli Flags Hung Inside Hebron Mosque

An IDF soldier was suspended from combat duty on Saturday after being filmed breaking into a mosque, the army said. The IDF Spokesperson said the soldier’s conduct “does not align with the values of the IDF,” adding that he would face disciplinary action and that command and disciplinary measures would be taken based on the findings. The army also said that if additional people were involved, they would be handled accordingly.

A source in the Islamic Waqf administration in Hebron alleged that settlers, accompanied by IDF forces, entered the Al-Ras mosque in southern Hebron in the early morning hours. According to the source, they hung Israeli flags inside the mosque, removed the worker on site, and played songs through loudspeakers.

The source said that after coordination with Israeli Civil Administration officials, the settlers left the area and the mosque was reopened for regular prayers.
