U.S. military says it struck missile and drone storage sites in Iran
U.S. Central Command, or CENTCOM, said in a post on X that American forces carried out strikes inside Iran in response to a drone hit on a merchant vessel in the Strait of Hormuz the day before. CENTCOM said U.S. aircraft struck Iranian missile and drone storage sites, as well as coastal radar sites.
In its statement, CENTCOM said the Iranian forces’ “unjustified aggression” against commercial shipping was a clear violation of the ceasefire. It added that Iran’s dangerous conduct threatened freedom of navigation at a time when trade is flowing increasingly through what it called a vital international trade corridor.
The post did not provide additional details on the extent of the damage, the exact location of the targeted sites, or whether there were casualties.
