Nico Paz Set to Stay at Como in Complex Deal With Real Madrid

Nico Paz is expected to remain at Como after a complicated agreement with Real Madrid, following intense talks between the clubs and reporting by Fabrizio Romano. The Argentine midfielder had been linked with a return to Madrid, but Como, Paz and Real all pushed for a solution that keeps him in Serie A.

Real Madrid had already decided to activate its 9 million euro buyback clause, which would have brought Paz back automatically after his breakout season in Italy. Instead, a creative arrangement was reached in which Como will effectively “repurchase” Paz based on a 60 million euro valuation. That figure is not a cash payment now, but a market valuation used to set future transfer clauses.

Under the new deal, Real Madrid will keep future selling rights, while retaining a future buyback option of its own. Inter had also shown strong interest in Paz, but the final agreement reflects the close relationship between the clubs and the player’s clear wish to stay.

Como coach Cesc Fabregas and president Mirwan Suwarso were described as crucial in the last 24 hours of negotiations. Paz, 21, has become one of Serie A’s most intriguing players, earning regular minutes, confidence and a central role in midfield, and was named the league’s best midfielder of the season. For now, he is expected to continue in Lombardy rather than return to Madrid, where he would face a crowded squad during the club’s ongoing rebuild.
