Netherlands keeps its perfect group-stage streak alive with 3-1 win over Tunisia
The Netherlands continued its strong run at the 2026 World Cup, finishing first in Group F after a 3-1 victory over Tunisia. The result sends the Dutch into the knockout stage against Morocco.
It was the fourth straight World Cup in which the Netherlands advanced from the group stage in first place. Their last time finishing second in a group was in 2006, when Argentina topped them. Since 1994, the Dutch have finished first in six of the seven World Cups they have played in.
Brian Brobbey again stood out, scoring his third goal of the tournament. Dutch coverage described him as central to the game, noting that his presence forced Ali Al-Sghir into an own goal and that Brobbey then helped create the second Dutch score a few minutes later.
Captain Virgil van Dijk said the team played well for much of the match. “We were a bit sloppy toward the end of the first half and also at the start of the second half, but we started the game brilliantly,” he said. Looking ahead to Morocco, he added, “It is a great team with a lot of quality, but it is also vulnerable, and we will need to try to exploit that. We still have a few days to prepare, and we are looking forward to it very much.”
