After Qatar controversy, Guy Hochman heads back to the World Cup
Comedian and content creator Guy Hochman has launched another World Cup run, this time flying to the United States ahead of the 2026 tournament. In his first post after landing, he signaled that, as in Qatar, he plans to focus on what happens away from the pitch and among fans.
Hochman wrote on June 25, 2026: “The games you will watch on public television, the behind the scenes and the dangerous fans of the World Cup are invited to watch with me. We are off, God help me.” He also posted from Times Square in New York while wrapped in an Israeli flag.
The article recalls that Hochman became one of the most talked-about figures at the 2022 World Cup in Qatar, where he filmed humorous clips among supporters, including Arab fans. Those videos brought him wide exposure, but also criticism and death threats. Because of the security assessment, he was forced to cut his trip short and return to Israel before the tournament ended.
It also notes that this is not the first time he has traveled to potentially risky events. He previously went to Turkey during a tense period between Israel and Turkey, after an Israeli couple was detained on suspicion of espionage for allegedly filming President Recep Tayyip Erdogan’s palace. Now, as the 2026 World Cup unfolds in the United States, Canada and Mexico, Hochman appears set to again center his coverage on fan encounters, the atmosphere outside stadiums, and behind-the-scenes moments.
