A social media storm erupted Wednesday night after Yair Lapid ally Naftali Bennett, chairman of the Together party, posted on X that he was stuck with his family in a traffic jam for two and a half hours. He said he was about to speak on Radio Bet and had “a lot to say to the people of Israel,” while sharing the message at 17:03 on June 24, 2026.
Users quickly questioned whether the timeline made sense, saying the Haredi vehicle protest that caused the congestion had only begun around 16:00. That would make Bennett’s claim of being stuck for two and a half hours difficult to reconcile with events on the ground, according to the critics.
Several public figures joined the attacks. Yiki Admaker, a panelist on “The Patriots,” wrote that Bennett posted only about an hour after the convoy left Haredi cities and called the claim embarrassing. Abraham Grinzig wrote, “A liar always remains a liar,” adding that the vehicle convoys left at 16:00 while Bennett claimed to be in traffic since 14:30.
Other commenters said his version implied he was stuck before the traffic jam even existed. One user wrote that he needed to “sync the clock with reality,” and the group “Torat Lechima” also challenged the timing, saying the protests had not even started at 15:00. The backlash centered on Bennett’s credibility, with critics accusing him of distorting the timeline during the Haredi demonstrations.
