Grand Theft Auto VI went on preorder worldwide overnight, and Rockstar Games said the title is still on track for release on November 19, 2026. The game is widely expected to become the highest-grossing entertainment product in history.
For Israeli gamers, the announcement brought sticker shock. The article says Israel has the highest price in the world for the game, with the standard edition listed at 319 shekels, about $107, while the Ultimate edition is 399 shekels. In the United States, the standard version is priced at about $80, and in countries such as South Korea and Japan the game is said to be nearly half as expensive as in Israel.
The reason given is that Israeli storefronts were tied to the European market, while Sony and Microsoft are still effectively calculating at around four shekels per euro. That leaves Israel paying far more than the American price, even though 319 shekels is described as the usual price for AAA games. The reaction in online forums was anger over Israel being the most expensive market.
Rockstar also dealt a blow to collectors and the second-hand market by saying the game will not be sold in true physical discs. Retail boxes, including those sold by Bug, will contain only a digital code. That means the game cannot be resold or passed on after use, effectively ending second-hand sales. Bug is currently first to offer a physical version with a code for 309 shekels, only a small discount from the digital store, and players hope more competition may appear before launch, though options look limited.
