Journalist Avishai Ben Haim, who recently returned to the media and now appears as a panelist on "The Patriots," told followers on Thursday morning what comment on social media has hurt him most. He wrote that the most insulting label used about him recently was "value-laden right wing," while the most flattering compliment was "excellent football player."
In a separate post published the night before, Ben Haim argued that hatred of what he called the "princes" among Likud supporters reflects deep contempt toward Mizrahi voters who backed Menachem Begin and helped bring him and others to power. He said those voters later dared to demand a share in political, social, economic and intellectual representation.
Ben Haim described the hostile words attributed to Begin’s grandson as an important document for understanding a central part of his theory of "Israel II." He said the theory was now proven because, in his view, part of the religious-Zionist elite and part of Likud’s "princes" simply switched camps, unable to coexist with Mizrahi Likud activists and Bibi supporters who had "raised their heads too much."
He added, "We do not know the name of Moses’ grandson, because Moses does not belong to his family, but to the whole people of Israel. Begin is like that too." Ben Haim said Begin loved the Mizrahi public, and insisted that "Begin was a thousand times more committed to the struggle against Mizrahi oppression than to judicial supremacy."
